Peter has more than 35 years' experience across the power industry. A Class 1 Engineer, he was involved initially with the operations and maintenance of plant and has since been employed by equipment manufacturers, EPC contractors and asset developers with both IPP and strategic companies.
Peter has worked with Welsh Power since 2004, initially as a consultant through his company Waters Wye Associates and since 2008 as Development and Operations Director.
Peter was responsible for the development of Severn Power, an 850MW gas-fired power station along with a 16-year operation and maintenance contract. Peter currently leads the development of Welsh Power’s current portfolio of high efficiency gas peaking plant.
From 2001 to 2003 Peter was Business Development Manager at Dynegy Inc., where he focused on opportunities in Spain for new-build wind farms as well as acquisitions of existing wind farms, and was also involved with wave power installations on the Welsh coastline.
From 1998 to 2001, Peter was Project Manager at PSEG Global, where he was responsible for the planning, co-ordination and control of technical and commercial aspects of the development from inception through to commercial operation, of a 24 MWe biomass project in Northern Italy.
From 1996 to 1998, as Project Manager at Rolls Royce, Peter was responsible for the construction of a 100MWe power station utilising two Trent Gas Turbine engines located in a confined site in the centre of a large city. Before this, for Mowlem Construction, he project-managed two co-generation schemes for a major UK utility company.
During the early part of his career, Peter gained extensive international experience as an engineer/project manager in the UK, South Africa, India and Singapore.
