Alastair has some 25 years' experience in the energy sector. He joined Welsh Power as Finance Director in 2008 and became Chief Executive in 2011.
Alastair is a Chartered Accountant with a background in corporate finance and strategic development. He has significant international deal experience and has been instrumental in the development and delivery of strategy within a series of organisations.
Alastair spent his early career at Ernst & Young where he worked predominantly in the energy sector. He was involved in the UK energy privatisation and de-regulation and spent a number of years working closely on associated projects most notably with Eastern Energy plc. Here he was involved supporting their strategic ambitions in both the gas sector and international expansion.
Alastair worked for Mitsui Babcock Energy where he helped establish their businesses in India and the US before taking on the role of Group Treasurer.
In 2000 he was appointed Finance Director for Global Renewable Energy Partners A/s. an international wind farm developer and helped establish their European business.
Directly prior to joining Welsh Power, Alastair was Director of Strategy for the international power engineering business, Doosan Power Systems where he spearheaded their growth in Europe and movement into alternative technologies.
