Welsh Power joins forces with Stump Up For Trees
Welsh Power volunteers help to restore biodiversity in South Wales.

Volunteers from the Welsh Power team recently took to the hills surrounding Abergavenny in South Wales, to lend a hand in restoring native woodlands – part of an ambitious rewilding effort led by community charity Stump Up For Trees.
The charity partners with upland farmers and other landowners to transform low-quality agricultural land into restorative woodlands, planting native tree species to encourage biodiversity and create long-term environmental benefits.
Their ambition to plant 1,000,000 trees across South Wales sees the charity raise seedlings to juvenile trees in their nursery. These are then hand-planted in challenging upland areas – often on land that must be cleared manually due to its steep, rugged nature.
We’re proud to play a small role in this powerful local project. Our volunteers got thoroughly stuck in – clearing ground, planting saplings, and learning more about how grassroots conservation is taking root in the Welsh hills.
“Welsh Power has a great track record for supporting environmental projects like SUFT,” said Rhian Williams, our Legal & Commercial Director. “All the volunteers got thoroughly stuck in and hopefully, we helped make a difference.”
