In August 2008 Welsh Power announced plans to develop Wyre Power, an 850MW CCGT (combined-cycle gas turbine) power plant, with an investment of some £600 million.

Dragon Generation is Welsh Power’s specialist operator and developer of sub-50MW power stations.

Carron Energy Limited was the brand that launched and managed the Welsh Power Group.

Welsh Power is planning a green power plant using renewable fuel to supply electricity to around 12,000 homes in Newport. Nevis Power is a proposed £70 million CHP (combined heat and power) biomass plant.
