Corporate Health & Safety Policy Statement
We, at Welsh Power are committed to achieving the highest standard of quality health, safety and welfare for our employees, visitors, customers and contrators, who may be affected by the company's products or its activities.
We recognise that all accidents, incidents and work related ill health problems are avoidable and such events are a failure of Management Controls.
As CEO of Welsh Power Group Limited, I will, through each Business Unit/Subsidiary Managing Director, be responsible for ensuring that a safety policy, organisation and effective management system are established and operating with the aim of;
- Achieving standards exceeding the requirements of all relevant legislation, codes of practice and guidance notes.
- Ensuring that all reasonably practicable steps to eliminate accidents and hazards are taken, this includes eliminating or controlling risks that could lead to injury or loss arising from an avoidable unplanned event.
- Ensuring that health and safety is integrated within business and management strategy, utilise adequate resources available to plan and implement health, safety and quality policies.
- Establishing and maintain effective communiactions, controls and checks to continually improve health and safety performance.
- Creating a culture that supports and promotes a good health and safety workplace and ensures suitable and sufficient risk assessments are completed for all jobs undertaken to achieve adequate control measures and resources are assigned to safely perform the tasks.
- Support the development, training and involvement of personnel within the organisation to promote a safe working environment.
- Support safety, health and quality initiatives for continuous improvements within the organisation.
- Ensuring all employees and contractors are aware of their duties and responsibilities and that adequate training is provided to achieve competency.
- Regular auditing of Health & Safety Systems.
We, at Welsh Power, shall ensure that adequate resources are provided to implement and monitor Health & Safety.
Work must never be so urgent that we cannot take the time to plan and perform safety,
